I have taken a liking to pop art and the use of bold block colours. The obvious person who sprang into mind, was Andy Warhol.
"Once you 'got' Pop, you could never see a sign in the same way again. And once you thought Pop, you could never see America the same way again."
This image of Marilyn Monroe is probably one of his most famous pieces of artwork. The use of block colour has inspired me to use basic colours for my final outcome to my project 'MY HOMETOWN'. I also like the way he emphasized the colour of the skin and hair to create a more abstract image.
As well as this, I was inspired by the way Warhol used a mixture of colours which would normally clash with eachother, but still managed to create a piece of stimulating and visually pleasing artwork.
